Hi, my name is Kelly Noonan, and I am the Chief Development Officer of Catholic Charities Dallas, which means I have the privilege of sharing our mission as well as the incredible power of charity and generosity within our community. In my last video, I mentioned that I couldn’t wait to tell you more about the progress we’ve made and share the impact of your various gifts. Today, I’d like to tell you more about our Hunger Mission.
Did you know that as recently as 2017, CCD proudly provided about 250,000 meals per year for those in need? In 2022, we are on pace to provide nearly seven million meals throughout our nine counties of service. That exponential growth is due to the generosity and thoughtfulness of many donors including some of you watching today. Talk about impact! This is incredible growth, and it’s been done in an extremely efficient manner. The Hunger Team’s mantra of “One Driver, One Truck, Thousands Served” rings true every day, especially since we now have four driver-truck combos on the road daily. Better yet, CCD is proud to announce that in partnership with North Texas Food Bank, a fifth truck is in the making! With it, the goal in total service is elevated to over eight million meals for the North Texans in need.
Of course, efficient as this method is – big trucks, our awesome CDL-certified drivers, fuel, tires, insurance, maintenance, and other ongoing costs add up quickly! It costs over $1.2 million dollars per year to sustain our hunger program. While it is a big number, it translates to about $0.16 cents per meal. Efficient and effective! However, this means that we continue to need your ongoing and continued support to ensure that CCD continues to provide these amazing results as well as the capacity for the growth needed to meet the rise in demand.
