Parish Relations 2023 Recap
Hello, my name is Devyn Buschow and I currently serve as the Parish Relations Program Manager at Catholic Charities Dallas.
CCD has been blessed this year by a beautiful amount of support from so many of our parishes! We wanted to dedicate this video to thank you for all of your efforts in supporting our work in the 9 counties of the Diocese of Dallas.
We cannot name every parish in this video, but please know that your support of our second collection, our Christmas efforts, all the in-kind donations, and the way you share our information with your parishioners is so greatly appreciated! We cannot serve the thousands of people we do every year without your support.
We do want to highlight some parishes who have supported us in special ways, as well as acknowledge some “fun facts” that have happened in 2023!
Starting off with our Hunger Services program, we have 29 parishes partnering with us for our Mobile and Box Pantries! Thank you for your partnership in bringing food to all those in need.
We also have a few fun facts:
- Patrick in Denison is home to the northernmost Mobile Food Pantry, located just 5 miles south of the Oklahoma border
- Immaculate Conception in Corsicana is the southernmost mobile food pantry that we serve
- St. Ann’s in Coppell and Our Lady of Perpetual Help had a mobile food truck on the hottest day of the year: It was 109 on August 26th
- We have a three-way tie for the coldest day of the year as Our Lady of Perpetual Help, San Juan de los Lagos y Santa Teresita, and St. Michael’s in McKinney all hosted our food truck when it was only 30 degrees on January 26th
Thank you for helping us distribute more than 8 million pounds of food around the diocese!
Thank you to all of the parishes that are home to the Together We’re Better and Together We Learn programs with Educational Services. We love sharing literacy skills with all of your families! Thank you to St. Pius X for being our newest location for Together We Learn.
Our Immigration Legal Services team was grateful to serve at 10 different parishes this year with CCD Contigo and Citizenship Workshops.
- Shout-out to St. Francis in Frisco who had us out twice, and who also was the parish with the most diverse countries of birth
- Pius X had more than 80 participants, the most at a single site all year
- Finally, Immaculate Conception in Corsicana had the most applicants who were also parishioners
Thank you for letting us serve your community!
We loved having Parenting Classes in two different counties, and we heard that St. Francis in Frisco had the cutest mascot!
We love when we get the opportunity to share more about Catholic Social Teaching and the mission of Catholic Charities Dallas. Thank you to all of the parishes who invited us out for presentations this year.
Lastly, we want to highlight that over 600 of our volunteers in our volunteer database are members of your parishes. St. Rita‘s and Christ the King have the most volunteers listed from their parishes, thank you!
Please encourage your volunteers to update their user profile in our database to include their parish affiliation, as we love giving shout-outs when people donate their time to support our mission.
We have included some fun social media graphics recognizing some of the parishes within the Diocese of Dallas that hosted our programs and supported our mission through volunteerism. Please click the button below to download the graphics and share them on your social media platforms!
Thank you again for all that you do to support CCD. Have a beautiful new year. Until next time!
P.S. – We are just wrapping up our Christmas program and wanted to give a shout-out to the generous parishes who donated financially, physically, or sent Christmas cards! Thank you to All Saints, Christ the King, Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Angels, St. Ann (Coppell), St. Mary of Carmel, and St. Rita for your generosity. 🎄
