Whitney is an attorney and the Director of Immigration Legal Services at Catholic Charities Dallas. Whitney is joining us from the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Washington D.C.  where she was Immigration Counsel providing Immigration Subject Matter Expertise to other attorneys in the Office of General Counsel. Whitney has represented the VA at the White House as a member of an Inter-Agency Task Force seeking to assist Veterans that have been deported. She has gained experience interacting with stakeholders from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on issues that affect non-citizen Veterans. Prior to that, she worked as an immigration attorney in both private and non-profit organizations, notably as the Associate Director for Immigration Legal Services at the Caribbean Women’s Health Association in New York.  Whitney is a native of New Orleans. But has spent many of the past 13 years in Washington DC where she graduated from Howard University (B.A., 2008) and Howard University School of Law (J.D., 2012). Whitney holds bar licenses in the states of New York and New Jersey.   Whitney has handled both Family Based and Employment Based Immigration cases, including family-based petitions, refugee and asylee adjustments, VAWA self-petitions, Naturalization applications, TPS applications, Deferred Action applications, H-1B visa applications and EB-1 applications.  Whitney credits time spent early in her career interning in the United States Senate, immediately after Hurricane Katrina, for creating in her a passion to pursue a career in social justice. In her spare time, Whitney loves to travel to other countries and experience other cultures. She has lived and studied in both Spain and South Africa.  Her most memorable trips are visiting the Vatican in Rome, Italy and the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
