July 2021
Hi, my name is Mike Murray, and I am the Chief Development Officer of Catholic Charities Dallas.
Things are going great this summer at Catholic Charities. We are getting closer to finishing renovations on our new 180-unit St. Jude housing center and will be welcoming formerly homeless residents shortly. We have enrolled 100 children and 80 parents in our Together We Read summer reading enrichment program. And we have exceeded 100 food distributions per month in all nine counties of the diocese with our four mobile community pantry trucks.
I often like to talk about why you should consider supporting Catholic Charities because of who we are and what we do and the impact we have on people’s lives.
Today I want to talk to you about practical ways of how to support our mission. We of course love straight cash gifts but there are other ways that are easy and beneficial to you.
- Direct stock transfers save you money in taxes and gives us the full benefit of your gift. Do not cash in your stock first! Transfer it directly from your company or broker and your gift will be maximized on both ends.
- Planned gifts from your estate are impactful and will leave a lasting charitable legacy from you and your family. It can be a bequest from your will, but you also can make Catholic Charities a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. You can even leave us your house!
- Recurring giving really ads up. A repeated gift throughout the year, year after year, makes a consistent, predictable impact.
- And do not forget to take advantage of your employer’s matching gift program. It is usually a simple process and when you give to Catholic Charities online, we have instructions on how to double your donation.
Generosity is a virtue that reaps lasting rewards. It is a true giving of self and an act of Faith. Catholic Charities truly appreciates your generosity and most importantly the people we serve, often in great need, are unmistakably full of gratitude when they receive our services, made possible by your generous spirit.
Thank you and God bless.
