Our team works tirelessly to provide case management, time-limited housing intervention programs, and long-term assistance and housing to other individuals experiencing homelessness. We currently have two St. Jude Centers in Dallas – one at Forest Lane and one at Park Central.
St. Jude Forest Lane has 104 units which are occupied by individuals who are 55 years of age and over. They recently celebrated their 5-year anniversary in August! To celebrate, the residents came together during their monthly celebration to recognize birthdays, play Bingo, and enjoy In-N-Out Burger! Our volunteers made the evening incredibly special for our residents – several of whom have been at St. Jude Forest Lane since the day it opened!
St. Jude Park Central has 201 units which are occupied by individuals over the age of 18. The residents at both locations have access to comprehensive case management including counseling, referrals for medical and mental health services, and securing more independent living. Additionally, all residents can enjoy a robust schedule of optional activities such as fitness classes, prayer services, visits from the Parkland mobile unit, and more.
To date, nearly 500 formerly homeless neighbors have called one of our St. Jude Centers home. As you know, there is still more to do.
As the gap between income and housing costs grows, more people face homelessness. At Catholic Charities, we are always looking for ways to respond to the needs of our community. I’m thankful to be able to share that a third St. Jude is on the horizon. In partnership with the City of Dallas and the Catholic Housing Initiative, St. Jude Vantage Point is on track to open early next year and will serve 136 residents.
I invite you, and encourage you, to support our Homelessness and Housing mission today. Our residents arrive with next to nothing and are incredibly thankful for the necessities, like clothing and cleaning supplies, that many of us are blessed to have on hand regularly. Your gift will change a life and lift those in need on their road to self-sufficiency. Or, consider supporting us with a more substantial gift to help as we transform a run-down Extended Stay into livable units at St. Jude Vantage Point.
