Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with Us!

Below are many of the ways that you can use your talents or do something you enjoy to serve people in need with Catholic Charities. Some opportunities are a one-time visit, and some require a deeper commitment, but all are needed!

Individual Opportunities

Refugee Services

  • Receptionist: Greet clients and visitors, and help answer phones and support staff
  • Office Assistant: Assist the Refugee Employment Team with filing and data entry
  • ESL Teacher: Teach English as a Second Language classes to adult refugees (No prior experience or knowledge of other languages is required!)
  • ESL Teacher Assistant: Provide support to teachers in the English as a Second Language classes through one-on-one tutoring to adult refugees, or by coordinating simple activities for the children of the adults in the class.

Financial Stability & Career Services

  • Financial Education Facilitator: Provide financial education classes at various sites on personal finance, savings, credit debt reduction and home ownership.
  • Career Workshop Facilitator: Provide Career enhancement workshops to Include resume building, interviewing skills and business etiquette.
  • Food Pantry Assistant: Welcome people coming for food assistance, give out food and assist in completing intake of clients. Commitment of at least one time slot a month.

Immigration Legal Services

  • Citizenship Specialist: Assist individuals applying for Citizen ship in filling out their application (training session is provided)
  • Citizenship Teacher: Teach citizenship/civics classes to prepare individuals to pass the citizenship exam (training is provided)
  • Citizenship Workshop Volunteer: Welcome Citizenship Workshop attendees and work with a Citizenship Specialist to assist the attendees in completing the application for citizenship (great for groups!)
  • Office Assistant- Provide general office support to staff including filing, answering phones, and assisting with client intake

Children's Education

  • Office Assistant: Help with welcoming visitors to the center and general office duties including filing, copying, faxing, answering phones, and data entry
  • Educational Assistant: Assist in the preparation of individualized lesson plans focused on developmental and academic needs of students in our Together We Learn, After School, or Summer Camp programs
  • After School Program Tutor: Help K-8 grade students by tutoring them in reading and math or working on homework
  • ESL Tutor- Work one-on-one with Pre-K students who need extra support in their ESL classes
  • Teacher’s Aid- Provide classroom help to teachers in Pre-K or Adult classrooms including one-on-one reading, group story time, classroom activities, and prep work for curriculum need

Senior Services

  • Greeter & Center Helper- Welcome clients to the Brady Center and assist them with sign in, then help with activities throughout the day and center cleanup
  • Emergency Food Bags- Help us put together the Food Bags we have available for seniors in case the weather prevents us from being open
  • We’re also always looking for talented individuals to teach our seniors a skill or a craft!

Administration & Development

  • Office Assistant: Provide general office support to staff including filing, data entry, assisting with projects, and other duties
  • Greeter/Host: Greet and welcome visitors, guests and clients to Catholic Charities, walk interior reception and outside grounds to help insure service and safety, and other duties like answering the phones to help CCD staff as needed
  • Special Events Volunteer: Assist with various aspects of our annual donor appreciation events
