CCD Parish Update - November 2024

CCD has been blessed this year by a beautiful amount of support from so many of our parishes!  We wanted to dedicate this video to thank you for all of your efforts in supporting our work in the nine counties of the Diocese of Dallas.

We cannot name every parish in this video, but please know that your support of our second collection, our Christmas efforts, all the in-kind donations and the way you share our information with your parishioners is so greatly appreciated!  We cannot serve the thousands of people we do every year without your support.

We do want to highlight some parishes who have supported us in special ways, as well as acknowledge some “fun facts” that have happened in 2024!

Hunger Services

Starting off with our Hunger Services program, we have 29 parishes partnering with us for our Mobile and Box pantries!  Thank you for your partnership in bringing food to all those in need!

It’s cold outside right now, but not as cold as it was on January 15, when San Juan de los Lagos y Santa Teresita had a mobile food truck when it was just 10 degrees!  Shout-out for having your mobile pantry on the coldest day of the year.

Incredibly, they also sweated it out on August 19, when it was 106 degrees! They are tied for hottest food pantry of the year, with Our Lady of Perpetual Help, who also hit 106 degrees on August 6.

Next, we always want to highlight the parishes who let us serve in the northernmost and southernmost parts of our Diocese- St. Patrick’s in Denison and Immaculate Conception in Corsicana. We’ll tell our driver to pick up some fruitcake next time he drives past Collin Street Bakery down in Corsicana!

Educational Services

Thank you to the seven parishes who are home to the Together We’re Better and Together We Learn programs with Educational Services!  We love sharing literacy skills with all of your families!

Immigration Legal Services

Our Immigration Legal Services team was grateful to serve at four different parishes this year with CCD Contigo and Citizenship Workshops!

Thank you to Holy Spirit in Duncanville, Our Lady of the Lake in Rockwall, St. Francis in Frisco, and St. Michael in Grand Prairie for helping us serve your community!

Pregnancy, Parenting & Adoption

We loved having Parenting Classes at four different parishes this year, and helping parents serve their families best!

Shout-out to All Saints and St. Philip’s in Dallas, St. Francis in Frisco, and St. Ann in Coppell!

Information Sharing

Just like Santa, we have elves that help us out, and they love to read parish bulletins, Flocknotes, and social media posts!  Thank you so much to these thirteen parishes who shared information about Catholic Charities for all 12 months of the year.  In total, 64 parishes shared our information at least once this year.  We are so grateful that you share with your community how they can receive help at CCD!

Parish Presentations & Volunteers

We love when we get the opportunity to share more about Catholic Social Teaching and the mission of Catholic Charities Dallas. Thank you to all of the parishes who invited us out for presentations this year!

Lastly, we want to highlight that 1,115 of our volunteers in our volunteer database indicate that they are members of your parishes!  This is incredible, and we want to give a shout-out to St. Ann’s in Coppell for having 107 volunteers, the most from one parish!
