CCD Parish Update - July 2024

Did you know that last year 17 schools in the diocese collected more than 73,000 pounds of food for Catholic Charities Dallas? This equals more than 61,000 meals for those in need. The support of our schools is incredible, so we wanted to send a special edition of this Parish Monthly Update to share how your school can engage with us!

Are you looking for new speakers or activities for your school in-service day? We would love to come share more about Catholic Social Teaching, the Works of Mercy, and how your teachers live them out every day in their classrooms! Teachers and administrators call families to participate in their community, uphold the life and dignity of all students, and use their gifts and talents to improve their workplace. We would love to help you reflect on the work you do in our diocese.

There are also ways for your students to get involved. Please keep our volunteer sites in mind when planning for your service days or include us on a list of family volunteer activities! Hosting a food drive with us each year is a wonderful way for your students to show compassion to those in need.

There are also some great service projects that you can complete without leaving your campus! We love it when we can hand out welcome notes and encouragement cards to those that we serve. These would be great projects for a Spanish, French, or Art class! Check out more service projects linked in a packet in this email.

Consider having us share about Catholic Charities Dallas with your service groups, honor societies, or specific classes. Would your human geography class be interested in learning more about the refugees that we serve? Or would your theology class like to learn more about how CCD puts Catholic Social Teaching into action?

It’s important for counselors and campus ministers in our diocese to know what we offer at CCD. I’d love to meet with you to share about how our resources can help families in need. Together, we can make sure we can support our community and our children.
