CCD Parish Update - October 2024

October is Respect Life Month! Here at CCD, we know that every human life is valuable, and every day we choose to show dignity to those in need.

Starting with the youngest that we serve, we offer pregnancy counseling, parenting classes, and adoption services. At Mater Maria, we offer a safe home for pregnant women experiencing homelessness. Their children enter the world in a safe, loving home, full of support for both mother and child.

In the letter, “Strangers No Longer, Together on the Journey of Hope,” the USCCB reminds us that we are called to create a welcoming environment to the immigrant, and to care for those in our community who have fled persecution. Through our Refugee Services, Immigration Legal Services, and Children’s Services, CCD cares for migrants in our community and upholds the dignity of all people, no matter their country of origin.

Our dual-generational approach to our Educational Services literacy programs lives out the Catholic Social Teaching Tenant of “Call to Family, Community, and Participation.” When we support and strengthen families, we uphold the dignity of all members.

Respect Life month calls us to celebrate people of all ages, and at our Brady Senior Center we truly live life as a celebration! Through hot meals, community building, dance parties, and fellowship, we remind our seniors that their lives have purpose, and they have dignity.

Each of our 11 missions at Catholic Charities Dallas is a celebration of life, and we call you to join us in showing dignity to all those in need!

We have an upcoming opportunity to celebrate life with us in a fun way through our Christmas efforts. We have over 500 residents who will be celebrating Christmas in homes this year! To make their rooms cozier, we are collecting pillows for their beds and $35 Walmart gift cards to help them spruce up their spaces.
