CCD Parish Update - September 2024

Have you seen our mobile food trucks driving around town? Our five refrigerated trucks make more than 140 drops at 99 different locations every month! With the help of our community and parish partners, we bring fresh food and healthy ingredients to all nine counties of the Diocese of Dallas.

We are looking to expand these mobile pantries into even more locations, as we still have 18 spots in our driving schedule that will help serve more in need. Mobile pantries are a great way for your parish to get involved with hunger services and are a low time commitment on your part. We’re just looking for partnerships once or twice a month!

Opening a mobile pantry location is an easy and effective way to fight hunger in areas of high food insecurity thanks to our efficient model. We like to share that we have one driver, one truck, and serve thousands. You can imagine how many we can serve with five.

We will provide the truck, the food at no cost, training for volunteers, and help with logistics. All you will need to provide is a parking space for our 33-foot truck and volunteers once or twice a month. Please consider signing up to help fight hunger in your community!

Already have a food truck at your parish? Consider having a distribution event twice a month instead of once!

If a mobile food pantry is not a good option for your parish, your parish is still able to serve the hungry by volunteering at our fixed pantry sites, joining another mobile food volunteer team, or organizing a food drive. Please also find the closest CCD food pantry to your parish to direct parishioners in need. Our calendar is updated monthly and can be found at ccdallas.org/hunger.

For those of you who have stayed to the end, here is a fun fact about our food trucks! Each of our trucks has a special name, selected to personalize our food distributions and to thank our donors who helped the truck get on the road.

Do you know who brings the food to your parish? Send us a photo of Mikey, Mary Lynn, Miss Lucy, Nan Connelly, or The Bev during your food distribution and you will be entered into a raffle to get a sweet treat delivered to your parish staff!
