The Jan Pruitt Community Pantry hosted its Grand Opening this morning in Lancaster. The pantry is the first of its kind for Catholic Charities Dallas allowing clients to “shop” the isles of the center and make nutritious food choices for their family. It was made possible thanks to a unique collaboration between CCD, North Texas Food Bank, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas.
We have set ambitious goals for the pantry, including providing neighbors in need with more than one million pounds of nutritious food per year by the third year of operation, serving more than 1,000 families.
